Neighboring Associations

Map Updated: 03/11/2026

Please note the following about the map below:

This map was created to help NEWCNA contact surrounding neighborhood organizations that we might come together to advocate for our shared interests. #StrongerTogether

Are you from a neighboring association? We encourage you to reach out to use through the form at the bottom of this page!

Map Technical Notes [click here to read]:

+ The locations of neighborhood associations displayed below are relative, not exact. Neighborhood organizations typically have complex boundaries that follow irregular lines like roads, rivers, etc. Please see a specific organization’s website for their more accurately drawn, self-determined boundaries.
+ The data to generate this map comes from the City of Austin. Please note that more types of organizations are included than just neighborhood organizations (HOAs, Property Management Groups, etc.–it is unclear why the City of Austin includes the Pflugerville ISD area in this data).
+ The location data for the center point of each organization mapped below is based on the listed registrant address in the City of Austin’s records.
+ The checkbox table on the right may be used to remove a given organization from being displayed or add it back. The organizations are listed from top to bottom based on their relative position from north to south; they can also be arranged alphabetically.
+ The size of the area of neighborhood associations plotted in the map below is based on a self-reported figure to the City of Austin. For ease of viewing the map, I have limited some of the excessive reports of, for example, 20,000+ household sized groups, so some organizations may be plotted smaller than they really are/self-report to be. Similarly, organizations reporting a particularly small household size were visually given a household radius of 20 so that they would be visible/clickable on the map.
+ Neighborhood associations with smaller areas are plotted on top of larger ones if they overlap so that they can still be selected and their specific textbox read.
+ The mapped organizations below have not been verified as yet–i.e. NEWCNA doesn’t know which of the below organizations are legitimate.
+ Not all neighborhood organizations recognize the authority of the larger-sized organizations which theoretically encompass them. In other words, do not assume that a larger-area association is necessarily recognized as an umbrella organization of all the smaller associations within its borders.

An Additional Note:
If your organization’s location is not displayed in approximately the correct location in the map below, please reach out to us via the form at the bottom of this page!

For those curious, this map was generated by Daniel White on behalf of NEWCNA. It took 3 hours and 11 minutes to get comfortable using Google Gemini for Interactive Map Generation (2 hrs and 30 mins at first for the map itself with an additional 41 minutes to add in the checkbox feature and get all the formatting right). Google Gemini provided the custom Python code, itself leveraging Pandas and Folium, Python libraries that bridge data handling in Python with interactive mapping via Leaflet. It was a learning experience; there are 300 lines of code in the final code, of which 234 lines are executable code! Also thanks goes to Nominatim, a free tool for converting addresses into map coordinates. The largely Python code also includes a bit of custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to generate the map displaying as is; a little custom html using iframe was also required to embed the map into this page.

Now that I’ve got the hang of this, and primarily due to the constraint of Nominatim’s free service, I could now generate this map from scratch in 10 minutes (seconds within an instance of Colab after the initial Nominatim import)! AI is pretty neat.

Cheers,
Daniel
